Day 1: Tarangire National Park
After breakfast commence safari and drive towards the north to Tarangire. Tarangire National Park is famous for its dense wildlife population, which is most spectacular between June and September, the dry period. During this time thousands of animals - wildebeest, buffalo, and Oryx migrate from the dry Maasai steeple to the Tarangire River looking for water. Lion, leopard and other predators follow the herds. Tarangire is home to over 500 varieties of birds. Have lunch and take a late afternoon game viewing drive returning for dinner and overnight at Holiday Fig Resort Campsite/ Lake Manyara Lilac Campsite.
Day 2: Lake Manyara National Park
After an early breakfast drive to Lake Manyara National Park and spend the day for game drive around Lake Manyara. Lake Manyara National Park is well known for its tree-climbing lions. The park covers 390 km2 and is sanctuary to over 400 species of bird that include the pink flamingos, pelicans, storks, Ibis and Egyptian Geese. There is also a huge herd of buffalo and elephant. Leave Lake Manyara in the afternoon and drive to Lake Eyasi Campsite.
Visit the native people namely the Bushmen locally known as Hadzabe or Tindiga, The Hadzapi people lives on Lake Eyasi and is a an original hunter-gatherer population of Africa. Then the Taturu sometimes known as Mang'ati who still live in their traditional way. Then drive to Karatu, a small town just outside the Ngorongoro Conservation area, for overnight at Karatu campsite.
Descend into the crater and spend the full day. One of the World's largest Calderas, 20 km wide, Ngorongoro Crater is also one of the best Wildlife viewing areas where Black Rhinos can be seen in Tanzania. The crater at 2.286 m above sea level is the largest unbroken Calderas in the world. Surrounded by very steep walls, rising 610 m from the crate floor, it covers 260km2 and is home to over 30.000 animals, almost half of them being zebra and wildebeest. Ngorongoro is listed as a World Heritage site. Returning for dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Public Campsite.
Day 5: Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Today we drive across the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to visit Olduvai Gorge; continue into Seronera in the central Serengeti. The afternoon is spent on a game drive with overnight at Seronera Campsite. Serengeti National Park is undoubtedly the best-known wildlife sanctuary in the world with columns of wildebeest, head to tail, trudging along their traditional migration routes.
This is an ideal place to take a Balloon Safari over the Serengeti.
(Balloon safaris and breakfasts in the bush can be organised by prior arrangements.)
Day 6: Serengeti National Park
At 06h30 start to take a game drive to Lobo in the remote Northern Serengeti. The Lobo area is one of the natural pathways for the yearly migration of the wildebeests. This area has one of the highest concentrations of lion in Africa. Overnight is spent at Lobo Campsite.
Spend the day driving visiting the Wasso and Sonjo peoples, en-route to Lake Natron. Meet an ancient, traditional African way of life. This is a remote area; the drive is a long but a beautiful journey through dramatic harsh terrain. The journey is worth the effort to experience true rural Africa. The sheer scale of the place is out of this world. Lake Natron is also famed for its flamingo population. Although wildlife may be seen in this area; this location is not about game viewing; rather it is about experiencing the breathtaking space and immense views. Overnight at Lake Natron Camp Site.
Rise before dawn to experience a truly spectacular African sunrise over Lake Natron. After breakfast return to Arusha for dinner and overnight in Arusha .
